Chick-fil-A Bowl Hosts NCAA Football Youth Day at Riverwood International Charter School

ATLANTA – July 10, 2009 – On July 18, youth football players from the metro Atlanta area are invited to attend a free half-day clinic at Riverwood International Charter School in Sandy Springs sponsored by the Chick-fil-A Bowl.

This clinic, one of nine free clinics NCAA Football is hosting across the nation, will be led by coaches from Georgia State University, Georgia Tech, Morehouse College, University of Alabama (Tuscaloosa and Birmingham) and the University of West Georgia. Participants will enjoy an introduction from key Georgia Tech student-athletes before engaging in on-field agility drills, offensive and defensive training, and off-field character development.

“Supporting youth football in Atlanta has always been a priority for the Chick-fil-A Bowl,” said Gary Stokan – president and CEO, Chick-fil-A Bowl. “Partnering with NCAA Football to host this clinic is a meaningful way to make a positive impact on these kids. It’s a first-class event and something we hope these 250 young athletes will remember for a long time."

Registration will be open to the first 250 youth attendees ages 14 and under. Those who are interested in attending the clinic can register by visiting http://2009ncaafyd.theregistrationsystem.com, clicking the registration link at the top, completing the information and selecting the Chick-fil-A Bowl location.

“This clinic is a great opportunity for youth athletes and coaches throughout Georgia to study not only about football, but also about the moral character that will help these kids grow and mature into responsible adults,” said Bob Vecchione – chair, NCAA Football Youth Initiatives Committee. “We are honored to be involved in this event with the Chick-fil-A Bowl, and hope the participants enjoy exclusive access to the talent of Georgia State University, Georgia Tech, Morehouse College, University of Alabama – Birmingham, University of Alabama and University of West Georgia instructors.”

NCAA Football’s Youth Initiative is a $1.5 million, three year investment that began in New Orleans in 2007. Through this program, NCAA Football strives to attract more youth participants to the game, provide them with additional motivation to pursue higher education opportunities, help them develop the necessary skills to be successful on and off the field, and help to establish a new base of lifelong NCAA Football fans.
