ESPN 3D Tabs Chick-fil-A Bowl for 3D Telecast

Chick-fil-A Bowl joins BCS National Championship Game and four other bowls to be telecast in 3D.

ATLANTA (August 8, 2011) – The 2011 Chick-fil-A Bowl will be included in an exclusive list of post-season bowl games to be telecast in a three-dimensional format on ESPN 3D.

The Chick-fil-A Bowl’s Dec. 31 prime time showdown between the ACC and SEC is one of only six bowls selected by ESPN 3D in its schedule of games released today.

“This is an exciting designation for our game and we are fortunate to be on such a short list of 3D games this year,” said Gary Stokan, Chick-fil-A Bowl president and CEO. “Our bowl has always done very well on ESPN and we think the exciting style of play between our rival ACC and SEC teams will really translate into a great 3D telecast.”

ESPN 3D is available nationwide to more than 65 million households and has carriage agreements with Comcast, DIRECTV, Time Warner Cable and Verizon FIOS.

A record 8.4 million viewers watched the Chick-fil-A Bowl on ESPN last year, making it the most-viewed Chick-fil-A Bowl in history and the top-rated non-BCS bowl game on ESPN. Overall, Chick-fil-A Bowl games account for four of the top 10 and six of the top 25 most-viewed non-BCS bowl game telecasts in ESPN history.
