ATLANTA (Dec. 31, 2011) – In keeping with its tradition of inviting team celebrities to deliver the game ball prior to both the Chick-fil-A Bowl and the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, Bowl officials today released the names of the game ball delivery honorees for Saturday night’s Chick-fil-A Bowl between Auburn and Virginia.Heisman Trophy winner and two-time All-American Bo Jackson will deliver the game ball for the Tigers. At Auburn, Jackson set the SEC record for average yards per carry and finished his career with 4,575 all-purpose yards and 28 touchdowns. Jackson is one of just three players whose jerseys have been retired by Auburn, and he was later ranked #8 on ESPN’s Top 25 Players in College Football History list.
Pro Bowler and Packers Hall of Fame member Don Majkowski will deliver the game ball for the Cavaliers. The quarterback led the team to its first-ever bowl appearance and win, the 1984 Peach Bowl. Drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 1987, “The Majik Man” had a breakout season in 1989, finishing second in the MVP race. Now a member of the Packers Hall of Fame, Majkowski resides in Atlanta.
Jackson and Majkowski will ride together in a 2012 KIA Sorento – provided by official vehicle sponsor KIA Motors – to midfield just prior to the coin flip to present the officiating crew with a pair of game balls from the two teams.
